Do they have what it takes?

Evil schemes are brewing in Cauldron, a metropolis of merchants built into the caldera of a long-dormant volcano. Will our heroes, the Eldritch Blades, rise to the challenge? Will their swords and sorcery be enough to save the Shackled City?

The story so far…

Keira returns to Cauldron, looking to start a new adventuring group. She is able to recruit Alex, Linden, Savain, and Jeran. They are soon hired to seek out four orphans who were recently kidnapped. Their investigation leads them to Keygan Ghelve, the local locksmith. They confirm his complicity in the kidnappings and turn him over to the authorities. The next day they are joined by the paladin, Morwin. They descend below Cauldron to the abandoned wizard enclave of Jzadirune. There, they defeat the skulks and Dark Ones responsible for the kidnappings. They then descend further to the Malachite Fortress. Jeran is killed. The bard, Josh, is recruited as his replacement. They are able to defeat the leader of a slave ring and rescue the orphans as well as several others who had been kidnapped.

They are soon commissioned by Captain Terseon Skellerang, head of the Town Guard, to investigate recent goblin vandalism in Cauldron. The group track the goblins to Orak’s Bathhouse. Confronting Orak, they discover him under some outside influence. After subduing Orak and defeating the wererats watching over him, the Blades descend below Cauldron in search of the vandals. In the caverns below, they do battle with many goblins and their vampire leader, Drakthar, as well as groups of half-orc mercenaries. Defeating them all, and uncovering a plot to smuggle the mercenaries into Cauldron, the Eldritch Blades return to Cauldron to report the news and claim their bounty.

The group was awakened one morning by an urgent summons from Jenya Urikas, acting head of the Temple of Bahamut. Her superior, Sarcem Delasharn, had sent her a communication relaying an attack on the inn he was currently at and requesting help. Jenya entreated with the Eldritch Blades to make haste and assist in the defense of the inn. They were soon off, arriving at the Lucky Monkey overrun with bandits. The Elditch Blades fought off the bandits, only to find Sarcem dead and his valuable cargo missing. The group returned to Jenya with the news and tasked with recovering the missing ritual components. Through diligent investigation and a backalley tip, the group tracked the culprits to an underground complex. The group battled aquatic horrors as they made their way to the hideout. Within, they fought a triumvirate of evil cultists and retrieved the ritual components in time to return to Cauldron and stave off the flooding of the lower city.

The group was contacted by a local merchant, Maavu Arlintal. He informed them that he and a group of local merchants were interested in reopening the Lucky Monkey. A work crew was sent out there, but had not been heard from since. The group was hired to investigate and deal with whatever may have befallen the work crew. The group set out and discovered at the Lucky Monkey that the crew have all been turned into trees. Following a lead deep into the woods, they found a large underground cavern, filled with purple light and an expansive forest. They made their way through the forest and into a cave tunnel they discovered on the other side. At the end, they found and fought the crazed wood woad responsible for the afflicted work crew. Having defeated the wood woad, they returned to Maavu with a cure in hand.

The group took some time to rest and recuperate. The discovered a growing anti-government sentiment growing amongst the populace over the escalating taxes and increased mercenary presence in Cauldron. They attended what started as a peaceful rally, but which escalated into a full riot. They protected Maavu and helped him escape. They followed after and met Maavu in Redgorge, where they were introduced to The Chisel. Informed of the growing evil in Cauldron’s government, the group was tasked with finding Sir Alek Tercival, who might be able to avert further escalation of hostilities between Redgorge and Cauldron. The group tracked Alek to Vaprak’s Voice, fighting their way past demons and giants, to find Alek ensorcelled by a trio of hags. They freed Alek and defeated the hags, only to be confronted by a powerful demon which quickly dispatched Alek and disappeared, leaving the Eldritch Blades to figure out what to do next.

The group returned to Redgorge to find a force of men from Cauldron ready to besiege the city in order to apprehend The Chisel. The party was able to sneak into Redgorge, convince The Chisel to steal away from the city and hide, and send the Cauldron forces home with their quarry missing. The party returned home as well hoping for some rest and relaxation, only to be interrupted by a new march on Redgorge amidst rumors of The Chisel’s return. An ambush by the Blue Duke’s forces nearly decimates the Cauldron militia, if not for the intervention of the Eldritch Blades. The group then raced to the defense of Redgorge from the might of the Blue Duke’s mercenary army and a demon horde from the Demonskar, securing ultimate victory and security for Redgorge and Cauldron.

Guard Captain Skylar Krewis asked the group to investigate a missing caravan of much needed supplies. At the same time, Keira was tasked by her liege to right a wrong in the Feywild. The group finds the destroyed caravan and track its attackers into the Feywild. They followed their prey to what was once a sacred burial ground for the Gloaming Fey, now corruted and transformed, as were its denizens. The party proceeded to cleanse the grounds of evil but were unable to determine who or what had perpetrated the corruption or for what purpose. Their task complete the group returned home with Queen Anan’s blessing.

While relaxing at The Tipped Tankard, the party are attacked by assassins. They traced the assassins back to Ike Iverson at The Spire of the Stern Lady. The group infiltrated the temple, killed Ike, and learned of his collusion with someone named Fetor Abraxious in Kurran Kurral. They tracked down the whereabouts of Kurran Kurral and journeyed the long distance there. They weathered the frigid temperatures inside and overcame its dracoliche protector. Fetor escaped, but the group learned of his, Ike’s, and Embril’s involvement with a group called the Cagewrights and their search for the Shackleborn, leading up to a massive ritual. The purpose of the ritual remains a mystery.
